PRX-T33 vs PRX Plus – the differences explained

WiQo · Non-injectable peeling · Professional insight

PRX-T33 vs. PRX Plus – what is the actual difference?

Both are non-injectable peeling treatments from WiQo, but they are built on different technology and solve different clinical problems. Here we go through the differences in formulation, depth of action and which patient each product is best suited for.

Formulation — what sets the two products apart

The PRX-T33 formula

33 % trichloroacetic acid (TCA) modulated by hydrogen peroxide, with 5 % kojic acid added. The TCA penetrates into the dermis and stimulates the fibroblasts directly, without damaging the epidermis or causing visible peeling.

The PRX Plus formula

A newly patented combination of 33 % Ammonium Trichloroacetate (ATCA — a TCA derivative) and 2 % homocysteic acid (HoA), with citric acid and phytic acid added for mild exfoliation and radiance. HoA is not found in any other cosmetic product on the market, and stimulates NMDA receptors in the skin for a milder, more superficial effect than PRX-T33.

Which product should you choose?

Choose PRX-T33 when the patient has
  • Clear signs of ageing and reduced skin tone
  • Scarring, including acne scarring
  • Pronounced photoageing and sun damage
  • A need for more intensive skin regeneration
Choose PRX Plus when the patient
  • Has younger or more sensitive skin
  • Wants a more even skin tone and less visible pores
  • Wants increased radiance without an aggressive treatment
  • Is nervous about injections or more invasive methods

Can they be combined?

Yes. PRX Plus is not intended to replace PRX-T33 — the two products are designed to complement each other. Many clinics offer both and choose the product based on the patient's skin condition, treatment goals and comfort level, or combine them in an overall treatment plan to address both deeper and more superficial skin concerns.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between PRX-T33 and PRX Plus?

PRX-T33 is based on 33 % TCA, hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid, and provides powerful dermal stimulation suited to deeper skin concerns. PRX Plus uses a patented combination of 33 % Ammonium Trichloroacetate (ATCA) and 2 % homocysteic acid (HoA), together with citric acid and phytic acid, and acts more superficially in the epidermis and upper dermis, targeted at radiance, texture and pore size.

Is PRX Plus intended to replace PRX-T33?

No. PRX Plus has been developed to complement PRX-T33, not to replace it. The two products address different clinical needs and can be used in the same clinic for different patient groups or combined within the same treatment plan.

Who is PRX Plus best suited for?

PRX Plus is well suited to younger or more sensitive skin, patients who want a more even skin tone, less visible pores and increased radiance, as well as patients who are nervous about injections or more invasive methods.

Who is PRX-T33 best suited for?

PRX-T33 is ideal for patients with deeper skin concerns such as signs of ageing, reduced skin tone, scarring and more pronounced photoageing. The stronger dermal stimulation is suited to more intensive skin regeneration protocols.

Do PRX-T33 or PRX Plus involve downtime?

No, both treatments have been developed without superficial peeling or visible downtime. The patient can normally return to daily activities immediately after treatment.

Are the PRX Plus results from an independent clinical study?

No. The figures come from a manufacturer/distributor-published measurement on 30 women (aged 24–67), based on instrumental skin analysis (Visia, Dermascope, Ultrasound L20 HD3). It is not an independent peer-reviewed clinical study, and the figures should be read with that in mind.
