Restylane vs Lumifil – what clinics should consider

Restylane vs Lumifil – hvorfor flere klinikker i Norge velger Lumifil

Restylane and Lumifil are both hyaluronic acid fillers, and clinics often ask how to choose between them. The short answer: choose by indication, injection depth and the manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU) for each product, not by brand.

Start with the IFU

Each filler is CE-marked for specific indications and injection depths. The correct product depends on the treatment area, the planned depth and the patient. Restylane's indications are set out in Restylane's own IFU, and Lumifil's in Lumifil's IFU. Always follow the IFU of the product you use.

What the Lumifil IFU says

  • L-Lite: very thin, superficial lines, injected into the upper dermis.
  • L-Kiss: moderate wrinkles and volume restoration in the face, injected into the middle dermis.
  • L-Max: moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and age-related midface contour deficiencies, injected into the deep dermis.
  • All three contain 20 mg/ml hyaluronic acid and 3 mg/ml lidocaine hydrochloride, and are for patients over 21.
  • The IFU states that Lumifil must not be injected into the eye contours (eye circle or eyelids) or intravascularly, and must not be used together with laser therapy, chemical peeling or dermal abrasion.

Combining products in a clinic

Many clinics stock more than one filler and choose per treatment. That choice is a clinical one for the practitioner, based on the IFU, the area and the patient. We do not make performance comparisons between the brands here, as we have no independent comparative documentation to refer to.
